The past weekend has seen some 300 overseas students from 16 Jiangsu-based universities and colleges testing their athletic and cultural capabilities against each other.
The students were attending the Jiangsu province elimination stage of China Exploration, a national competition launched by the Ministry of Education with the aim of enriching overseas students' campus lives, inspiring their interests in learning Chinese culture and encouraging stronger ties between Chinese and foreign students.
The team led by 11 international students from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA) impressed the spectators with their morale and skills in the three-on-three basketball match, their cooperation and navigation in the orienteering section, and their integration of Chinese dances and martial arts. The NUAA team achieved the third-highest score and qualified for the next round.
Along with teams from Jiangsu and Yangzhou universities, the three squads will compete on behalf of the province at the Southeast China regional elimination stage from June 7 to 10 for entry to the final national competition in September.
